(ANSA) - ROME, APR 2 - Colomba Easter dove cakes have risen
almost 32% in price this Easter, consumer group Codacons said
Sunday.
Th soft, fluffy cakes topped with almond icing are Italy's
traditional Easter treat, more recently joined and perhaps
superseded by Easter eggs.
Codacons said the 31.8% price rise was due to hikes in raw
materials and booming energy prices.
Some of the colomba cakes have seen a 70% price hike, it said.
Easter eggs are also up in price this year, said Codacons, "but
it is the colomba that without doubt has seen the steepest
hikes". (ANSA).
