(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 22 - Ukraine's Ambassador to Italy
Yaroslav Melnyk said Wednesday that the people in Italy who
oppose the policy of sending military aid to Kyiv after Russia's
invasion are doing Moscow a favour.
"I'm aware that the issue of supplying arms is becoming
increasingly sensitive for some politicians and their voters,"
Melnyk told a joint hearing of the Lower House and Senate
foreign affairs committees.
"Peace is only possible on the basis of the principles of
international law and the UN Charter.
"All the other half solutions will not be able to guarantee real
peace.
"And weapons are needed to get to peace negotiations.
"Calling for peace in Ukraine and the stop of military aid means
playing the game of just one side, Russia.
"It means asking for Ukraine's surrender". (ANSA).
