(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 10 - There has been a surge in migrant
landings in Italy in the last three days (up to 8 am Friday
morning), the interior ministry said, amounting to some 3,000,
to which must be added those arriving after the Coast Guard
rescue operations underway for a further 500 or more in the
Ionian Sea.
And the total for 2023 has risen to 17,592 against 5,976 for the
same period last year: an increase of 194%, according to the
ministry website.
Ivorians (2,383), Guineans (2,334), Bangladeshis (1,506) and
Tunisians (1,286) are the most represented nationalities.
There have been 1,965 unaccompanied minors. (ANSA).
