(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 7 - The European Commission told Premier
Giorgia Meloni Tuesday that it was ready for long-term solutions
to the migrant issue including combatting traffickers and
boosting repatriations.
Answering a recent letter from the premier, a spokesman said,
the EC recognized the need to find long-term solutions to the
migration issue, in line with the EC president's message to the
European Council on migrants last month.
The EC "wants to renew efforts to reach a migration pact and
give operational responses," said the spokesman.
"Migration must be addressed with a holistic approach,
combatting traffickers, implementing repatriations for those who
are not entitled to stay, but also offering clear channels for
safe and legal migration". (ANSA).
