(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 30 - Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, the vice
dean of the College of Cardinals, said Thursday that he is set
to preside over this weekend's Palm Sunday Mass in Saint Peter's
Square after Pope Francis was admitted to hospital with
respiratory problems on Wednesday.
"I can conform that on Sunday I will preside over the Palm
Sunday Mass," Sandri, the pope's Argentine compatriot, told
ANSA.
"I was informed on Monday by the papal master of ceremonies that
each of the Holy Week rites would be presided over by a cardinal
and they asked me to do Palm Sunday.
"Naturally I hope that the pope gets better and can preside over
the liturgies, as has happened on other occasions, with a
cardinal officiating at the altar". (ANSA).
