(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 26 - Fair and fast justice is a priority
for the government, Premier Giorgia Meloni and Justice Minister
Carlo Nordio said after a meeting on his proposed reforms of the
justice and wiretapping systems Thursday.
Nordio has said the government is determined to make the
regulations for the use of wiretaps by examining magistrates
stricter to stop the reputations of innocent people being
damaged by recordings of private conversations appearing in the
press. He also wants to press ahead with plans to make the
career paths of judges and prosecutors separate.
Meloni, met this afternoon at the premier's office at Palazzo
Chigi with Nordio to discuss the forthcoming justice measures,
Palazzo Chigi said after the meeting.
"Giving citizens fair and fast justice is a top priority of this
government and a commitment we have made to the Italians. We are
determined to keep it as soon as possible," said Meloni,
according to the statement. (ANSA).
