(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 20 - The Uffizi galleries in Florence have been named as one of the 20 best art galleries in the world and the best in Italy in 2023 by America's World Art Awards.
    The selection is made on the basis of years established, industry reputation, online interest, location, size, aesthetics, socially relevant exhibits, motivational and educational programs and represented artists, among other criteria.
    The Uffizi, which is famous worldwide for its collections of ancient sculptures and paintings especially from the 14th-century and Renaissance period, is "most important Italian museum, the most visited, largest and best known in the world", according to the motivation.
    Other galleries to have been singled out for the award include the Vancouver Art Gallery in Canada, the Savannah Center for Contemporary Art in Ghana and the Balcony Contemporary Art Gallery in Portugal. (ANSA).
