(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 25 - Centre-right government party Forza
Italia on Saturday blasted as "intolerable" the agreement
between Germany and the EU on the use of synthetic fuels in
automobiles.
"The agreement between Germany and the EU on the use of
synthetic fuels, with the exclusion of biofuels, is simply
intolerable," said Forza Italia lawmaker and head of the party's
energy department Luca Squeri in response to the earlier
announcement by European Commission Vice-President Timmermans.
"We have found an agreement with Germany on the future use of
efuels in cars," tweeted Timmermans.
"We will work now on getting the CO2-standards for cars
regulation adopted as soon as possible, and the Commission will
follow-up swiftly with the necessary legal steps to implement
recital 11."
"It is an agreement destined to harm not only Italy, but all of
Europe," said Squery.
"The government must continue the sacrosanct battle for
technological neutrality, because we risk paying dearly for the
insane environmentalism of the European left." (ANSA).
