(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 2 - Pope Francis told priests in the
Democratic Republic of Congo Thursday that they should respect
the rules of celibacy and forget about money.
The Pope asked Congo's priests not to give in to "worldliness",
to respect celibacy and not to practise "those vices that we
would like to eradicate in others and in society".
"There is a great risk," he warned, that of "taking advantage of
the role we have to satisfy our own needs and comforts.
"Then, instead of serving the Gospel, we become preoccupied with
managing finances and carrying out some business that is
profitable for us".
For the Pontiff, "it is scandalous when this happens in the life
of a priest or religious" and he also invited to "live celibacy
as a sign of complete availability to the Kingdom of God".
